Rise early for the drive to Dochula Pass. If clear, the mountain views are incredible. Continue to Punakha to visit the 'Palace of Great Happiness' (Punakha Dzong), located at the river confluence. Walk across the 160m suspension bridge nearby for photos and a thrill. On the way back or forth, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang. Overnight in the balmy Punakha valley.

Day 3: Punakha to Paro

Drive back to Paro. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan (Ta Dzong) to see a collection of thangkas, festival masks, and heritage items. Walk down to the Rinpung Dzong. In the evening, stroll through Paro's main street, lined with traditional wooden buildings housing shops and cafes.

Day 4: Tiger's Nest Excursion

The highlight of the trip: hiking to Taktsang Goemba (Tiger's Nest). Start early to beat the heat. The trail goes through pine forests. Visit the monastery temples clinging to the rock. After the hike, treat yourself to a traditional hot stone bath (Dotsho) to soothe your muscles. Farewell dinner.
